NFL training camps are officially underway, and football has finally returned. Every NFL season, a number of players take the next step and have breakout campaigns. Whether it’s making the leap from backups to starters, starters to stars, or stars to superstars — 2023 will be no different for the AFC East.

NFL Preview: 3 potential breakout stars from every AFC East squad

As a preview for the upcoming slate, here are three players from each AFC East team that could have breakout seasons of their own in 2023. We will start things out with the Jets!

AFC East Team No. 1 — New York Jets

WR Garrett Wilson

OL Alijah Vera-Tucker

RB Breece Hall

With Aaron Rodgers in the fold, the Jets are primed for success in 2023. They also have a number of players who will greatly benefit from a top signal-caller.

Garrett Wilson had a great rookie season, putting up 1,103 receiving yards and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in the process. He did that with Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco and even Chris Streveler throwing him the ball. With Rodgers as his quarterback, Wilson could solidify himself as a top receiver in the NFL.

Alijah Vera-Tucker was having a great 2022 season before an elbow injury ended it early. Due to the Jets’ offensive line injuries, Tucker was forced to start at three different positions for the unit (right guard, left tackle, and right tackle) over the seven games he played. If he can get settled at his natural guard position, he could put together a phenomenal year.

Breece Hall was another Jet who was putting together a great 2022 season before an injury. Prior to tearing his ACL, Hall had 681 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns in just seven games. As we have seen with Saquon Barkley and other running backs who have torn their ACLs, it could take a year or two for Hall to get back to form. But the Iowa State product is looking good and testing well early in training camp, so barring a Dalvin Cook signing, he should get an opportunity to be a breakout star in 2023.
