Team No. 4 – Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders recently cut Derek Carr and saved tens of millions of dollars in doing so. This move frees up the cap space to make a blockbuster trade to secure Carr’s replacement behind center.

At the 2018 NFL Draft, rumors swirled about Josh McDaniels’ affinity for Jackson. The Patriots drafted Sony Michel instead, but McDaniels might view this as a way to right the wrong.

The Raiders need a facelift on defense, and bolstering the offensive line is a necessity. Trading picks and using a chunk of cap space on Jackson is risky for a roster in need of talent, but an offense featuring Lamar Jackson, Davante Adams, Darren Waller, and Josh Jacobs would keep the team in games every Sunday.

Team No. 5 – New York Giants

The New York Giants got serviceable play out of Daniel Jones in year one of the Brian Daboll Era. The expectation is for Jones to return to the only franchise he has ever known, albeit on a short-term, team-controlled deal.

What if Daboll decided to pivot and go all in for Lamar Jackson? The Giants unexpectedly made the playoffs in 2022, with much of the young talent improving as the season grew. Throw Jackson into the mix, and New York would be a favorite to come out of the NFC.

At No. 26 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Giants might have to get creative with some trade offers to sway Baltimore away from more enticing deals. Still, it is possible considering general manager Joe Schoen would not have to cut any salary to fit a Jackson extension on the books.
