2023 NFL Mock Draft: Lions Land C.J. Stroud, Steelers Go Tackle
13. Green Bay Packers: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
The Green Bay Packers have found the recipe that would’ve won them previous games, but it wasn’t enough to bring a strong running game against a dynamic passing attack in Buffalo. The ship can be righted, but beating quality teams will be the only way. The Packers have some offseason things to address, especially at tackle with David Bakhtiari’s contract and Yosh Nijman hitting free agency.
In this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, they go with a premium position in tackle, and land another Georgia player in Broderick Jones. Jones has been very impressive down blocking and pulling in the run game, and has the athleticism to succeed at tackle in the NFL.
14. Detroit Lions (via LAR): Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
After securing a franchise quarterback in Stroud, the Detroit Lions need to turn to the defensive side of the ball, and they do in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. Finding a corner to lock things down opposite Jeff Okudah would be smart, and Emmanuel Forbes has been dynamite this season. Forbes plays the run with authority and has the length and ball skills to disrupt the catch point.
15. Indianapolis Colts: Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern
It’s a bit out of range for the Indianapolis Colts to land a franchise quarterback in this draft at this point. But, with Sam Ehlinger starting the rest of the year, they could get into position for Levis. It might be best to address a premium position in the first round, and one that’s been a bit neglected recently. Peter Skoronski might get dinged a little for arm length, but all he’s done is dominate this season for the Wildcats.
16. New England Patriots: Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse
This might come as a surprise here, but the New England Patriots do not have Trent Brown under contract past the 2022 season. The Patriots have no issue going offensive line early, even though they’ve landed gems in day three of the draft. Matthew Bergeron is an extremely talented left tackle who has put together impressive resume games against Notre Dame and Clemson. His run blocking is impressive and his technique is pass pro continues to get better. He should be on the first round radar by now.
