Philadelphia Eagles Trade Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings
After a struggle with the Philadelphia Eagles, wide receiver Jalen Reagor is headed to Minnesota Vikings to join the WR he went before in the 2020 NFL Draft.
We’ve witnessed a flurry of trades around the NFL as teams work down to their final 53 man rosters before he season begins, but this move might just take the cake, if only for the significance of a draft two years prior. The Philadelphia Eagles have traded Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings, the team who was happy that the Eagles took Reagor and passed on Justin Jefferson, who has quickly risen to the elite tier.
In the deal, the Vikings send a 2023 seventh round pick back to the Eagles as well as a conditional 2024 fourth round pick that becomes a fifth round selection if statistical thresholds aren’t met, as reported by Adam Schefter.
This is a very interesting move by the Vikings, only because it looked like they were set with their top three wideouts. Adam Thielen still has plenty in the tank, and K.J. Osborn looked to be a good fit in Kevin O’Connell’s offense, because of his skills as a blocker to help with the run game from the slot.
Now, Reagor adds a more dynamic presence to the room. He never gained traction in Philadelphia playing on the perimeter, struggling with drops and creating separation as a route runner. The explosiveness had to be the big draw for general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell, who may have some ideas to get him the ball creatively in the offense. Maybe he shares return duties as well.
It’s easy to see why Adofo-Mensah would take a flier here using a pair of day three selections. High picks are often able to turn things around with a change of scenery, as is the cliche. Maybe that happens here in Minnesota, even if it’s just carving out a role. Regardless, this will be a fun development to follow as the season begins, as Jalen Reagor joins Jefferson and company in Minnesota.
