2. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are the next team that comes to mind. They currently have Drew Lock and Geno Smith rostered, but neither guy has the experience and overall accuracy that Jimmy G brings to the table. When the team selected Charles Cross out of Mississippi State, they got themselves a franchise left tackle at No. 9 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. With one of their two second-round selections, they chose Kenneth Walker lll, a workhorse running back from Wake Forest and Michigan State. Both guys will undoubtedly elevate the unit as a whole. The pass catchers in Seattle are nothing to scoff at either. DK Metcalf is becoming a superstar in this league, and Tyler Lockett proved last season that there’s still gas in his tank. The defense is a work-in-progress, but this roster is not as barren as analysts would lead you to believe.

What Comes Next for Jimmy Garoppolo? Three Teams That Could Trade for the Veteran Quarterback

Led by the aging Pete Carroll, it’s unlikely that the franchise is willing to punt a season away. This is where Jimmy Garoppolo comes into the equation. As stated previously, Garoppolo is capable of managing an offense and winning football games. He is an expiring contract, meaning that the Seahawks will have zero long-term commitment. It is easy to look at the division and assume that Seattle is far and away the worst team, but with the upgrade from Geno Smith/Drew Lock to Jimmy G, they might surprise some folks. Alas, it remains an unlikely deal unless the Niners show a willingness to pay some of his 2022 salary. If San Francisco helps facilitate things by reworking the contract, general manager John Schneider should view Garoppolo as the ideal stopgap while the team continues to search for their long-term Russell Wilson replacement. Keep an eye on that situation.
