What teams are the best trade destinations for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel?

As the chaos that is the 2022 NFL offseason chugs along, the 2019 wide receiver class has started to take the stage. Players like Terry McLaurin and A.J. Brown are set to hit free agency after the 2022 season and are looking for long-term deals. D.K. Metcalf is in that boat, but on a rebuilding team, maybe he ends up elsewhere. Of those 2019 receivers, Deebo Samuel has now created the largest headline of all, as he has requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

Samuel enjoyed incredible productivity in year three with the 49ers, making an impact in the passing game and the ground game.

This could be for a couple of reasons. The first, and perhaps the most obvious, is about money. Maybe the 49ers didn’t offer Deebo Samuel the number he wanted per season in an extension. The other, which is being reported, is that Samuel isn’t happy with the amount of touches he’s getting as a running back. Now, there is no guarantee that the 49ers honor this request. They don’t have to trade Samuel and can let him walk in free agency.

However, if they want to maximize their value in this (and if Samuel is indeed dug in), then trading him is the best move.

So where could Deebo Samuel end up? There are a few destinations that stand out. Teams like the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints are likely out of the question, as trading him to an in-conference rival doesn’t make a lot of sense. Let’s look at five teams that make sense for the San Francisco 49ers along with Deebo Samuel.
