Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Trent McDuffie. 32. Washington. 23. player

Trent McDuffie was trending towards threatening Gardner and Stingley for the top CB spot earlier in the offseason. The former Washington Husky is one of the smartest players in the entire draft. He displays proficient knowledge of defensive schemes, and is even able to decipher offensive play calls at times.

So why is he available at 23 in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft? Pretty simply, he has T-Rex arms. Measuring in with sub-30 inch arms is a dealbreaker for a CB in most teams’ eyes. The lack of length limits his upside, no doubt, but with that being the only real flaw in his game, he is still worth taking in the back half of round one. Even if McDuffie spends a majority of his time inside, the slot defender position is becoming more and more valuable with each passing season.

Zion Johnson. 24. player. 123. OL. Pick Analysis. Boston College. Scouting Report

The Cowboys could go a number of different ways here, but my gut says they address the offensive line and take one of the biggest risers of the draft process — Boston College’s Zion Johnson. The pick in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, Johnson began his football career as a zero-star recruit coming out of high school. After excelling at the FCS-level, Zion continued to impress in the FBS just the same.

Johnson is most comfortable at guard right now, but he has experience playing at the tackle spot as well. Furthermore, during Senior Bowl week he even took snaps at center. He is the type of guy that will succeed at whatever you throw at him. The line used to be the strongest point of the roster, but as age continues to add up, it’s important to infuse some youth into the unit.
