9. Denver Broncos: Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati

There’s a lot to unpack with the Denver Broncos at the quarterback position. There’s the elephant in the room in Aaron Rodgers, but Russell Wilson could be in play as well. If they stay put or add a cheaper option to be the veteran quarterback in the room, defense is the favorite at nine, and that’s the case in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

It’s back-to-back corners here, and the Broncos get to have a great duo with Patrick Surtain II and Ahmad Gardner. Gardner is CB1 for many in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it’s understandable why. He plays extremely physical at the line of scrimmage, and has the length to close windows even when trailing. His change of direction skills aren’t elite, but he can hang with the best at receiver in the NFL.

10. New York Jets (via SEA): Jermaine Johnson II, EDGE, Florida State

The New York Jets are back up here in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, and while offensive line could be in play with one of these first round picks, it’s also possible that free agency is where that’s reinforced.

Yes, Carl Lawson is returning, but the defensive line could use another edge rusher to get after the quarterback. Jermaine Johnson II has been one of the bigger risers on the edge throughout the whole process. He’s dominant as a run defender, and has unlocked more than just speed to power as a pass rusher.
