Miami Dolphins Could See Overhaul On Offense After Mike McDaniel Hire
The hiring of Mike McDaniel by the Miami Dolphins could mean a full overhaul in terms of offensive personnel.
The Miami Dolphins hire of Mike McDaniel signals a clear path forward for the franchise. The organization still believes in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and their hope is that a strong offensive mind will help him reach his peak.
Miami Dolphins Should See Personnel Changes
The hire should also signify some changes on the offensive side of the ball in terms of personnel. McDaniel has a clear vision coming from the Mike Shanahan/Kyle Shanahan tree, and those ideas can give us a hint about what personnel changes and what to look for when free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft roll around.
Jaylen Waddle will obviously be a centerpiece on offense, and it’s possible that he could be utilized in a similar vein to how Deebo Samuel is used in the 49ers offense. Now, Waddle likely won’t get the volume of carries that Samuel has (his bigger frame and contact balance help him in that area), but seeing Waddle receive touches in the screen game, quick game, and work more out of the backfield as a receiver could be in the cards to a higher degree in 2022.
Tagovailoa should see more easy throws and the RPO game likely won’t go away. However, getting him opportunities with moving pockets, rollouts/boots, and more play action could see the production get better for someone who processes very well post-snap.
So, to get all that to happen, there are things that must happen in terms of personnel changes. Let’s look at every position and talk about what needs to change, including some free agents and draft prospects to consider.
