Round 3, Pick 78: Myjai Sanders, EDGE, Cincinnati

EDGE. Cincinnati. Myjai Sanders. 3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 830

You can never have too many edge rushers in the NFL and the Cleveland Browns could potentially lose multiple this offseason. There’s talk that Jadeveon Clowney is interested in returning to Cleveland and Myles Garrett will continue to be a top tier force in the NFL. However, the players backing them up can always be adjusted and upgraded.

Takk McKinley’s contract is also up in Cleveland, so even if Clowney returns there will be a depth need to work into the rotation. Someone who can have an impact in limited time. A player that fits that bill is someone who showed consistency in college. Someone like Myjai Sanders.

Sanders played 38 games over the last three seasons at Cincinnati and showcased his ability to make plays on a consistent basis. Over that time, Sanders totaled 24.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks, including career-highs of 10.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks during the shortened 2020 season.

If Sanders can get those skills to translate to the NFL landscape, he could be the perfect fit for what Cleveland needs. He’s reliable enough to fill in when needed if the team is healthy, but has the skill set and potential to become a starter should an injury occur ahead of him on the depth chart.
