Round 3, Pick 98: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

player. WR. 3. Cincinnati. Alec Pierce. 830. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Like I said, this is a deep wide receiver class. If Cleveland doesn’t take one in the first round, they can easily double-dip early in the 2022 NFL Draft and get what they’re looking for outside the No. 13 overall selection.

If Calvin Austin III gives Cleveland speed, Alec Pierce gives the Cleveland Browns size. For the second consecutive pick, the Browns stay in the state of Ohio and take a Bearcat and it’s clear why.

At 6-foot-3, 213, Pierce has a similar skill set to that of Donovan Peoples-Jones. He has a big frame and is willing to use it as a blocker when needed, which is key in a run-first offense. Pierce has also been tagged as a great red zone target, something Cleveland seemed to lack this past season.

With Cincinnati, Pierce didn’t exactly put up incredible stats. He never eclipsed 1,000 yards in a season or reached double-digit touchdowns. However, there’s a ton of potential in his game. He has size, he’s an athlete, he’s been credited with good hands, quick feet. He even has experience as a special teamer.

If you can look past the stats and see what could come of Pierce in time and all the ways he can contribute, he’s an intriguing prospect.
