3. More Draft Picks

Right now, as it stands, the Carolina Panthers have just one pick on the first two days of the 2022 NFL Draft. The trade for Darnold isn’t looking great right now in terms of that, and building around him is tougher without those picks for impact players in year one.

The way it looks, there are two options. One of those is to see what teams will offer for Christian McCaffrey, but it’s hard to imagine giving up your best offensive playmaker, no matter how injuries hurt him this season.

The other option is to trade down from that sixth position in the draft in April. There will likely be teams who could look to move up for a quarterback, or even a couple spots for teams who believe they can land an elite talent at a position of need.

Even a couple moves down could still land you everything you need in terms of addressing needs on the roster. A couple trade downs could still give the Panthers a quarterback they would like. If they’re fans of Matt Corral, he could be available. If tackle is still the plan, Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning would be an interesting selection. A couple day two picks could land you someone like Zion Johnson to be an extremely reliable guard, or throw more picks at tackle and maybe one at the linebacker position.
