2022 NFL Mock Draft: Panthers Go QB, Giants Double Down On OLine
5. New York Giants (via CHI): Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
The New York Giants could have a whole new regime come the 2022 offseason, but there’s a chance that they don’t look for help in the 2022 NFL Draft at the quarterback position. Instead, they could roll with Daniel Jones or a veteran in 2022 while addressing the offensive line.
Charles Cross is the pick here for the Giants. Cross had a phenomenal year as a pass protector in the SEC, and would form a great young duo with Andrew Thomas at the tackle spots.
6. New York Giants: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
Billy Price has struggled to fill in at center, and the Giants really don’t have a stable answer at the position. In this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, they make a move to have a star at center for a long time. Tyler Linderbaum is a great combination of strength, athleticism, quickness, and field vision. He’s dominant in space as a run blocker, and holds his own as a pass protector.
7. New York Jets (via SEA): Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame
With their second pick in the first round, the Jets look to the secondary, which could be barren at safety if Marcus Maye walks. Plus, Ashtyn Davis hasn’t really panned out (or stayed healthy) at this point.
Kyle Hamilton is a rare talent at the safety position. His range is excellent, and his processing skills make for a player who can read quarterbacks’ eyes and create turnovers. He’s also great in the box and is a reliable tackler in space.
8. Carolina Panthers: Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi
The Carolina Panthers are trotting out a quarterback committee like it’s college all over again for Matt Rhule. Cam Newton and P.J. Walker are splitting reps, and there’s a chance Sam Darnold enters the rotation when he returns.
The Panthers need to find an answer at the position, and they are the first to get a quarterback in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Matt Corral has the quick delivery, arm strength, and placement to succeed in the NFL. He’s mobile and has played efficient football in 2021 while cutting down on turnovers.
