Round 2, 42nd Overall: Sean Rhyan, OT, UCLA

The New Orleans Saints have had a fabulous offensive line in recent season, and have continued to throw high draft capital at those positions. Despite no Super Bowl title, it drove the success of the offense when the Drew Brees era was winding down.

As previously stated, Armstead might be the odd man out with a cap-strapped franchise, one that already paid 2017 first round pick Ryan Ramczyk. The interior looks good with Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz, and Andrus Peat, and Calvin Throckmorton has played solid wherever the Saints have needed him.

Still, the search for the next left tackle will be a priority in the 2022 NFL Draft. Here, they select UCLA tackle Sean Rhyan. Draft analysts are a bit mixed on Rhyan at the moment. There are those who believe he fits best on the interior while others believe that there’s no reason to rush moving him inside.

Rhyan has been good in 2021 for the Bruins, and has a strong, balanced base in pass protection. His feet stay light to recover, and he has good grip strength to latch on when gaining leverage. He fires out of his stance powerfully against the run and has improved his angles this season. Rhyan was mixed against Kayvon Thibodeaux, but he won some reps in that matchup as well.
