Round 1, 11th Overall: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

This was the selection the New Orleans Saints made in Monday’s mock draft here at NFL Mocks, and let’s keep it the same here. As discussed already, the Saints receiver group will be bare entering the offseason. Michael Thomas will hopefully be back and ready to go for 2022, but guys like Tre’Quan Smith, Deonte Harris, Kenny Stills, and Juwan Johnson could end up elsewhere next fall.

The Saints offense was at its peak when they had a reliable big play threat, and they get one here in Jameson Williams. It’s been a meteoric rise for Williams, who came to the Crimson Tide via transfer from Ohio State because of a crowded room. He’s taken advantage of the opportunity of two first round picks leaving, and has become the top option for Bryce Young in 2021.

Williams has 68 catches so far this season for a whopping 1445 yards and 15 touchdowns. He’s averaging over 21 yards per reception and has been the big play threat due to his ridiculous acceleration and long speed to stress defenses at their core.

Williams is more than speed though. He has great separation quickness off the line of scrimmage, and can stop and start quickly off of stutter moves and double moves. He gets into great position at the catch point and maintains his speed through it. Williams would be a fabulous compliment to Thomas in 2022.
