2022 NFL Mock Draft: Edge Rushers Fly Off The Board, 3 QBs In Round 1
By Evan Bachman
25. Kansas City Chiefs: Jordan Battle, S, Alabama
The Chiefs have rebounded from a shaky start and sit at 7-4 currently, however it’s still obvious that they need to get better on defense. With Tyrann Mathieu being a free agent this offseason, the Chiefs may need to draft a safety to replace him and they do just that in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Jordan Battle is a valuable part of Alabama’s defense. He qualifies as a jack of all trades as he can line up all over the field as he play from the slot, the box, and at free safety, and he’s effective in coverage, run defense, and pass rush. His impressive 89.2 grade from PFF is third best amongst safeties in college football this season.
26. New England Patriots: Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn
The Patriots have been impressive this season and are one of the most complete teams in the league, so they don’t have any obvious needs. With J.C. Jackson being a free agent this offseason, they may need to replace him if they can’t re-sign him.
Roger McCreary is a very complete corner as he’s got good ball skills, movement skills, and is a good tackler. He’s been very consistent over his three seasons as he’s graded well in each of his three seasons, especially this season. He has recorded six picks and 25 pass breakups, which is very impressive in the SEC and makes me confident that he will translate well to the NFL.
McCreary’s play this season has really solidified him as a first round pick in this year’s draft as he has a grade from PFF of 90.3, which is the best of any corner in the country.
