2022 NFL Mock Draft: Edge Rushers Fly Off The Board, 3 QBs In Round 1
By Evan Bachman
23. Cincinnati Bengals: Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State
The Bengals received some criticism last draft for not taking Penei Sewell to protect Joe Burrow, however Ja’Marr Chase has made it pretty abundantly clear that they’ve hit a home run by selecting him. With that said, the Bengals do still need to improve their offensive line, so that’s where they go in this 2022 NFL mock draft.
Petit-Frere checks off a lot of the boxes of what you want to see from offensive tackle prospects. He’s a former five-star, he’s got a good combination of movement skills, hand usage, and strength, and he’s simply just produced very consistent play for a while at Ohio State. Petit-Frere has played both left and right tackle for the Buckeyes and could play either in the NFL.
24. Dallas Cowboys: Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia
The thanksgiving game against the Raiders really showed that the Cowboys need to get better on defense, especially up front. Adding Jordan Davis would fill what is probably the biggest positional need on their defense. Jordan Davis has been so good for Georgia this season that he’s drawing Heisman hype. He’s someone whose value goes beyond just what you see in the box score.
He is very powerful and can drive offensive linemen backwards and get them off balance. As a run defender, he is very good a recognizing where the run is going and driving linemen out of the way (or in the way of the run to stop it) to either free himself up to make a tackle or someone else. He’s improved a bit as a pass rusher every year, and while it’s not something the Cowboys can always expect, he will eat up space to free up their linebackers.
