Tua Tagovailoa is still with the Miami Dolphins, but his future with the team remains as uncertain as ever.

When Tua Tagovailoa was drafted fifth overall in the 2020 NFL draft, it was supposed to mark the end of the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback woes. After spending the 2019 season trying to revive Josh Rosen’s career, the organization decided to start fresh with a new quarterback in the draft. The pick was mostly met with praise due to Tagovailoa’s success at Alabama that included a win in the national title game and a second-place finish in Heisman Trophy voting in 2018.

But as we’ve come to learn in the NFL, things don’t always go as planned, and while Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert have found early success in their careers, Tagovailoa has faced his fair share of struggles, which has caused his future with the Dolphins to come into question. It might only be year two, but the pressure is mounting on the young quarterback to perform, and with the Dolphins plummeting in the standings, the outside noise is only getting louder.

Another NFL trade deadline has come and gone, and once again, there are more storylines about trades that didn’t happen than the ones that did. None more notably than the Miami Dolphins rumored trade with the Texans for Deshaun Watson. Even though the deal wasn’t finalized, the fact the Dolphins are already looking for a new quarterback only 14 starts into Tagovailoa’s career isn’t reassuring. The Dolphins have a lot of different moves they can make with Tagovailoa going forward; here are some of the possible scenarios as we move into the second half of the season.
