A hapless Houston Texans team may look to further their rebuilding efforts by trading veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to three possible contenders.

The Houston Texans are going nowhere fast. They are tied with the Miami Dolphins for the second worst record in the NFL at 1-6. The offseason drama surrounding their Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson has bled into the regular season. Whether Watson ever suits up again for the Texans is in doubt. As such, they have multiple reasons to begin the rebuilding process and try to accumulate draft capital. They’ve already traded running back Mark Ingram to the Saints and there are reports they’re strongly considering trading wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Brandin Cooks has had an unusual career path in the NFL. He was a first round draft selection by the New Orleans Saints in 2014 at number 20 overall. After playing three seasons with the Saints, Cooks was traded to the New England Patriots. After one season Bill Belichick and company shipped him to the Los Angeles Rams where Cooks spent two seasons before getting traded again, this time to the Houston Texans. This is Cooks’ second year in Houston, and he’s been traded three times in his career already. It’s a real possibility that he’s moved again before the Tuesday, November 2nd, 4 PM EST trade deadline.

Multiple teams will likely be in on acquiring Brandin Cooks, because he’s produced everywhere he’s been. A modern NFL mercenary, Cooks has gained 1,000 receiving yards at each of his four NFL stops. He’s a speedster and one of the best deep threats in the league. But where Cooks is underrated is his ability to make contested catches. Though he’s only listed at 5’10” 183, Cooks plays bigger than that because of his superior vertical leaping skills and his talent for going up to grab the ball at its highest point. He’s also fearless as he will go over the middle and sacrifice his body to secure the catch and the football. Here are three teams that might trade for Brandin Cooks.
