2022 NFL Mock Draft: Matt Corral becomes the future in Atlanta
20. Denver Broncos: Carson Strong, Quarterback, Nevada
No team has started more quarterbacks since 2015 since the Denver Broncos. Seven years later the Broncos are still looking for their quarterback to replace Peyton Manning. The team has started ten different quarterbacks in that span including current starter Teddy Bridgewater. So far this season Bridgewater has done what was expected of him. Bridgewater is efficient and won’t lose you a game. However, Bridgewater likely won’t make a game-changing play to win the game. He is fine for now, but Denver is going to need a long-term option at the position.
If Denver snaps their two-game losing streak and plays well the rest of the season it may be difficult to get the quarterbacks atop of their draft board. Fortunately for them, they have a rock-solid bridge option in the building right now in Bridgewater that they could likely resign for a short-term deal while a developmental quarterback gets ready to start.
One quarterback who could be a good fit in Denver is Nevada’s Carson Strong. He may have the strongest arm out of anyone in this draft class. Arm strength is necessary to play in a city like Denver. Strong could be the perfect quarterback to take advantage of all the weapons on Denver’s roster. He is extremely accurate when he throws downfield and doesn’t turn the ball over a bunch. It may take a year or two for him to get acclimated to the NFL level. But Denver may have their quarterback for the next 10-15 years in Carson Strong in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
