2022 NFL Mock Draft: Matt Corral becomes the future in Atlanta
19. Tennessee Titans: Ikem Ekwonu, Offensive Guard, NC State
The Tennessee Titans definitely benefit from playing in one of the weakest divisions in football. They have a lot of talent on their roster but have been hot and cold throughout the season. This may be because this team is very different from the one Tennessee had last season and extremely different from the team that made the AFC Championship two years ago. Out of every team in the league Tennessee has the largest amount of different players starting for them than the year prior. Defensively Tennessee changed their philosophy by tearing down their secondary to pay for a new better pass rush. While on offense they traded for Julio Jones to help replace Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith.
One unit for Tennessee that has not played great this season is their offensive line. In five games Ryan Tannehill has been sacked 20 times which is the most in the league. Very quickly this offensive line got old and thinned out depthwise. Part of what made Tennessee a contender in the first place was that Ryan Tannehill had time to get the ball to his receivers and Derrick Henry had gaping holes to run through.
If Tennessee finishes with a record that lands them near the middle or later part of the 2022 NFL Draft they could take NC State tackle Ikem Ekwonu. Even though he plays tackle Ekwonu will likely transition to guard at the next level. He is an outstanding run blocker which means it will be easier for Derrick Henry to make bigger plays as he gets older. Ekwonu would potentially replace Nate Davis who has been average at best during his time in Tennessee, and is a good fit in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
