Best 2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Chris Olave, Wide Receiver

Along with the University of Alabama, The Ohio State University has been a factory producing NFL players every year for seemingly forever. The National Championship runner-up has plenty of players across their roster that could be selected within the first two days of the NFL Draft.

The best prospect on the Buckeye’s roster is wide receiver Chris Olave. Before making his decision to return to Ohio State for his Senior year many have Olave pinned as a potential first-round pick in a loaded 2020 wide receiver class.

Chris Olave is entering his senior year at Ohio State. During his freshman year, Olave did not have a  huge role in the offense. Instead Olave was used for his ability to stretch the field and special teams. He finished the year with 12 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns.

During Olave’s sophomore year he established himself as a vital piece of Ohio State’s offense. In 14 games he had 49 receptions for 849 yards and twelve touchdowns. His touchdown and receiving yardage total led the team. That performanced earned Olave Third Team All-Big Ten status.

This past season Olave really broke out and established himself as one of the best receivers in college football. Olave almost matched his receiving yardage and touchdown total from the season prior despite having his season reduced to seven games.

He actually caught one more pass than he did the year prior in that time as well. Olave caught 50 receptions for 729 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 104.1 yards per game. He was named First Team All-Big Ten after his performance.

Olave is in the conversation to be the first receiver drafted next year. He is currently the favorite considering that he is beleived to be the best wide receiver returning to College Football next season. A few teams could look to add Olave in next year’s draft like the Detriot Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and New Orleans Saints.
