2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The Cincinnati Bengals made plenty of effort to improve the roster this offseason, but the analysts saw it as very hit-and-miss. For one, adding Ja’Marr Chase to help out Joe Burrow certainly could help Burrow’s deep accuracy. Trey Hendrickson helps ease the loss of Carl Lawson to free agency, and Chidobe Awuzie adds to a cornerback room that needs serious help.
The offensive line, the priority many believed would be addressed heavily, took a bit of a backseat. While Jackson Carman and D’Ante Smith could be contributors long-term, the both have developing to do. Riley Reiff can be a good short-term filler, but not addressing tackle more aggressively was an issue, and it could have ramifications this coming season.
In this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, the Bengals yet again pass at tackle, which leaves much to be desired to this point, and opt for an elite defender in LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr.
Stingley was a phenom as a freshman, picking off six passes and logging 15 passes defensed. His sophomore campaign was a little more of a letdown production-wise (5 PBUs), but he’s still got all the talent to be a top pick. He has great ball skills, great patience to stay in phase, and great vision and instincts in coverage.
