1. Offensive Line Turnover: Can They Gel?

As was mentioned before, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost Pouncey and DeCastro this offseason, two stalwarts for a long time. It’s also important to note that former left tackle Alejandro Villanueva has moved on as well, to the Baltimore Ravens no less.

The new-look offensive line features Chukwuma Okorafor moving over to left tackle in his fourth season, and Zach Banner the favorite to start at right tackle. Kevin Dotson and new addition Trai Turner should handle the guard spots.

The center position could be one that is competitive right up until the season opener. B.J. Finney, J.C. Hassenauer and Kendrick Green will do battle for the starting spot. Finney is probably the leader in the clubhouse, but Green has had experience at center from his time at Illinois.

Whoever earns the job, it will be important for this line to build chemistry from the get go. Okorafor has shown spurts of good play in pass protection, and Dotson had a solid rookie campaign. Adding in three new players, along with a new offensive coordinator, could create some challenges early on. But, if Turner can get back to how he played in Carolina, and Banner adjusts to a starting role, the unit can help this offense make waves and push for the playoffs.
