Former third-round pick Jace Sternberger is really at a crossroads in the 2021 offseason for the Green Bay Packers.

Sternberger was the 75th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M, and including postseason play, he has two touchdown receptions in 20 career games.

There’s no doubt that the Green Bay Packers envisioned Sternberger having the type of productive season we all witnessed last year from Robert Tonyan, the former Indiana State product who came virtually out of nowhere to catch 11 touchdowns in 2020.

Sternberger undoubtedly has ability. He was one of the more dominant tight ends in the SEC back in the 2018 season, catching 48 passes with 10 touchdowns among them.

Sternberger has been suspended to open the 2021 season for two games, he hasn’t been able to stay healthy, and up to this point, he’s largely been a disappointment on the field.

Given his suspension to open the season, the Packers may not cut him right away, but he will need to stay healthy throughout training camp and the preseason to really win a roster spot for this team and become the receiving threat he was drafted to be.
