The Green Bay Packers understandably do not want to trade league MVP Aaron Rodgers. It’s not as though it would have been an easy decision for them to trade him the moment he said the word. In fact, the Packers are doing the right thing by holding out as long as they can, just as much as Rodgers is doing what he believes is right for himself.

With that being said, we love to look at hypotheticals here at NFL Mocks. It’s what we do.

Had the Packers agreed to trade Aaron Rodgers prior to the 2021 NFL Draft to one of his apparently preferred destinations — with the Denver Broncos — they could have gotten quite a haul of picks and players that could have, in theory, helped them a lot right away.

Looking at the Matthew Stafford trade which yielded multiple first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a starting QB, the Packers could have gotten something like this from the Denver Broncos if a trade had been struck before the start of the 2021 NFL Draft:

  • 2021 first-round pick (9th overall)
  • 2022 first-round pick
  • 2021 second-round pick (40th overall)
  • 2022 second-round pick

Looking at even just those four selections as a starting point with the Denver Broncos adding in players on top of it all, let’s take a look through what Green Bay may have passed on by refusing to negotiate an Aaron Rodgers trade ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft.
