Denver Broncos: Players and picks to tempt Packers into Rodgers trade
If the Denver Broncos are going to tempt the Green Bay Packers to trade Aaron Rodgers, they’re going to need to put together an impressive package of picks and players. The Broncos and new general manager George Paton passed on quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft altogether, opting instead to go with a camp battle of Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater.
That is, unless the Packers and Rodgers can’t work things out.
It’s not out of the question to think the Packers would be willing to deal Rodgers if he’s legitimately willing to retire instead of play for them again. Rodgers has a clear and obvious feud with Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst that is not getting better anytime soon.
Ultimately, trading Aaron Rodgers is just too out there to actually happen, right?
It’s trading Aaron Rodgers we’re talking about.
The league MVP? Aaron Rodgers?
What general manager in their right mind wouldn’t just make Rodgers retire instead of being the GM that traded Aaron Rodgers for the rest of his life.
As unlikely as it may seem, that same GM drafted Rodgers’ replacement in 2020 and reportedly promised Rodgers he would trade him in the 2021 offseason.
Rodgers could still force this deal and stand his ground, and if he does that, the Denver Broncos seem to stand a really good chance of landing the MVP.
Not only do the Denver Broncos have one of the league’s best defenses under head coach Vic Fangio, but they also have a plethora of young playmakers offensively, reminiscent of the star-studded group that included players like a young, mostly unknown Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Julius Thomas before Peyton Manning came to town.
As interesting as the Denver Broncos’ current roster is, it would undoubtedly take some tough hits in a potential Rodgers trade.
What pieces could the Denver Broncos send towards Brian Gutekunst to make a deal happen?
