. . player. 49. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC North. Green Bay Packers

1 (29): Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia

Another year goes by with the Packers skipping wide receiver in the first round.

With that said, Eric Stokes is a fine selection given the Packers’ needs at cornerback and he has outstanding traits with size and speed. He also showed his ball production skills this past year with four interceptions.

2 (62): Josh Myers, C, Ohio State

After losing Corey Linsley in free agency (Chargers) the Packers find a day one starter in Josh Myers here in round two. Myers is a strong player who understands his role as the center, making calls and showing leadership as one of the team’ captains.

3 (85): Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson

Finally, a receiver.

The Packers get a pretty solid value here in Rodgers, who could start as the team’s slot as soon as, well, today.

He was the leading receiver for Clemson this past season and has really intriguing upside with his combination of bulk, toughness and aggressiveness at the catch point, and return ability.

4 (142): Royce Newman, OL, Ole Miss

When a class of players is as deep as this one on the offensive line, you’re bound to be getting some good value into day three.

Royce Newman is representative of that with starting right tackle potential. In fact, he has the versatility to play at guard or tackle and, at the very least, will give the Packers some options.

5 (173): Tedarrell Slaton, DL, Florida

A bit of a project on the interior defensive line, Slaton has tremendous upper-body strength and is a former top-ranked offensive line recruit who showed improvement this past season.

5 (178): Shamar Jean-Charles, CB, Appalachian State

A team captain and All-American for Appalachian State, Jean-Charles paced the FBS with 17 passes broken up. I think he can play in a zone heavy scheme on the outside, but his NFL future may be as a nickel.

6 (214): Cole Van Lanen, OL, Wisconsin

A local product at the tackle position who projects in the NFL as a guard. Van Lanen was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020.

6 (220): Isaiah McDuffie, LB, Boston College

McDuffie was a great value in the sixth round for the Packers and is a guy who is going to be loved by every coach on the staff for his intense style of play. He’ll contribute right away on special teams but there is definitely a future starting inside linebacker here if all goes well.

7 (256): Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State

Despite the unceremonious way his time at Mississippi State ended, Kylin Hill is a talented three-down type of back. Teams were probably salivating at the chance to sign him as an undrafted player before the Packers scooped him up.
