2021 NFL Draft: Recap and analysis of every pick for all 32 teams
1 (30): Gregory Rousseau, DL, Miami
After being projected as a top-10 2021 NFL Draft pick almost all offseason a year ago, the Buffalo Bills get the talented Gregory Rousseau at the bottom of the first round.
Rousseau had a wildly productive 2019 season at Miami but not everyone was sure where his fit was in the NFL. He has potential to be a base-down edge who can kick inside on passing downs.
2 (61): Carlos Basham Jr., EDGE, Wake Forest
Basham Jr. is one tough customer off the edge who just found ways to produce. He finished the last three seasons at Wake Forest with 33.5 tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks.
The Bills have a deep and talented group of edge players and Basham could be a future starter for them.
3 (93): Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
Spencer Brown has starting right tackle potential and showed just how hard he’s been working with the FCS 2020 season moved to Spring 2021 when he showed up at the Senior Bowl stone-walling guys. He then ran a 4.92 in the 40-yard dash at 6-foot-8, over 300 pounds. With his athleticism and physicality, I think he eventually ends up as a longtime starting tackle for some team.
5 (161): Tommy Doyle, OT, Miami (OH)
At 6-foot-8, 320 pounds, Doyle is yet another impressive and massive athlete for the Bills. Buffalo emphasized the trenches with their top four picks and if you let these four guys off the bus first, teams are going to be intimidated. Doyle has an impressive combination of athleticism and length.
6 (203): Marquez Stephenson, WR, Houston
Stephenson is a speedy receiver who offers a big-time threat in the return game with three kickoff return touchdowns in the last two seasons.
6 (212): Damar Hamlin, S, Pittsburgh
Hamlin has ideal special teams upside in the immediate with the type of aggressive play to eventually be a factor in the rotation at safety. He had 27 pass breakups and six interceptions for Pitt.
6 (213): Rachad Wildgoose, CB, Wisconsin
With 14 pass breakups in his first two seasons at Wisconsin, Wildgoose showed intriguing ball skills before only playing two games this past season. The Bills will hope to extract the best out of him as a developmental cornerback prospect who lacks elite traits.
7 (236): Jack Anderson, OL, Texas Tech
Anderson started at right guard for Texas Tech and was a team captain. He has short arms but he can make blocks in space.
