Pat Freiermuth. player. Scouting Report. TE. Penn State. 55. 55. Pick Analysis

The Pittsburgh Steelers broke one of Draft Twitter’s cardinal rules in the first round by taking running back Najee Harris.

I’m not part of the “never” take a first-round running back camp, and Najee Harris is particularly good at everything else besides just being a ball-carrier, so I think he was actually a great pick for the Steelers.

With that being said, the Steelers had needs all over their offensive line and they opted not to be aggressive to move up for some players who could have been starters for them in 2021.

The Steelers could have moved up for Samuel Cosmi or Dillon Radunz, or they could have stayed put and taken Jalen Mayfield or Brady Christensen who went near the top of the third round.

Pat Freiermuth should end up being a very solid NFL tight end, but the positional value here for the Steelers is just not there especially when they had such a dire need on the offensive line.

Time will tell if that decision will come back to haunt them, but the selection of Freiermuth here with so many other offensive skill players to get involved was a head-scratcher.
