What a showing from the Chicago Bears through the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. General manager Ryan Pace and company made a brilliant move on Thursday night, aggressively trading up to No. 11 in order to get in a position to snag quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears were at it again in the second round, moving up the board once again, this time for offensive tackle Teven Jenkins.

Jenkins is a tough and powerful offensive tackle prospect who was considered by most to be a likely first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jenkins was even paired to Chicago many times at No. 20. However, the big offensive tackle out of Oklahoma State slipped a bit further than expected, presenting the Bears with an opportunity to move up for him.

The Bears have undoubtedly been aggressive through the first two rounds and the depth of their roster may suffer because of it. That being said, the Chicago Bears entered the 2021 NFL Draft with quarterback and offensive tackle being their two biggest needs and they have now made significant improvements at both positions.

Jenkins is a rock-solid right tackle prospect whose game is built on dominant power at the point of attack. He is quick off of the ball and does a fantastic job of getting his hands on the defender immediately. Jenkins plays with proper pad level, can physically man-handle first-level defenders and shows tremendous natural grip strength.

In Jenkins, the Chicago Bears find themselves a dominant run blocker who also moves his feet well and shows some nice upside in pass protection. Make no mistake, trading up for Jenkins was worth it for this team, as he has a great chance of coming in and being an immediate impact starter for the team. Expect the big and powerful Jenkins to be the Bears’ starting right tackle for many years.
