2021 NFL mock draft: Round 2, 52nd Overall

Spencer Brown. 2. player. Scouting Report. OT. Northern Iowa. 57. Pick Analysis

As the roster stands now, the Chicago Bears will go into the 2021 season with the same offensive front as they did in 2020. If you watched that unit last year, that should raise some concerns, particularly at the tackle spot. Germaine Ifedi and Charles Leno are set to return at both tackle spots but neither of them is under contract past this season. Finding a developmental option in the 2021 NFL Draft makes a lot of sense for the Bears and you can’t find a much better piece of moldable clay than Spencer Brown out of Northern Iowa.

When you talk about offensive tackle traits, just look at Brown. He’s a towering prospect with rare length and he pairs that with eye-popping athleticism. That combo of length and movement skills isn’t something that comes along every day, making him a player I could see going higher than some think.

He certainly has some room for growth but that’s what makes him such a nice target for Chicago. He wouldn’t be expected to be a plug-and-play guy right away and can develop behind a couple of veterans. I really like this landing spot for Brown.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 4, 131st Overall

-Bears Trade picks 164 and 204 to the Baltimore Ravens for pick 131-

Cincinnati. James Wiggins. 3. player. Pick Analysis. S. 830. Scouting Report

After trading away their third-round pick in the deal to nab DeVonta Smith, the Chicago Bears would be set up to go pick-less in rounds three and four. Rather than sit around and wait until the fifth for their next pick, I have the Chicago Bears continuing their aggressive approach in the 2021 NFL Draft by trading picks 164 and 204 to the Baltimore Ravens for 131.

With that pick, the Bears land their first defensive player of the draft with the selection of safety James Wiggins out of Cincinnati. After a stellar 2018 season, Wiggins suffered a knee injury just before his junior season that would cause him to miss the entire year. He was able to return for his senior year, where he continued to play high-level football.

Wiggins is a physical, rangy player that would be a nice fit in two-high looks opposite Eddie Jackson. He’s a quick processor with a versatile skill set and his ball skills are some of the best in this class of safety prospects. I love his fit with Chicago and feel the value of this trade is too good to pass up.
