2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 15th overall

47. WR. Jaylen Waddle. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Alabama. 15. player

Do not count the New England Patriots out of the quarterback market. This team could be in a prime position to make a move up the board for a new franchise quarterback but it is not easy to see Bill Belichick giving up the draft captial needed to make such a move. The Patriots are much more likely to either stand pat at No. 15 or even move down the board.

In this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Patriots stay at No. 15 and land an exciting offensive weapon. Jaylen Waddle is the most explosive athlete in this draft class. He displays an elite combination of speed, quickness and acceleration that makes him a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Waddle’s game is built on speed and it makes him a dangerous player at all times but do not sleep on his ability to compete as a well-rounded receiver.

Waddle is a good route runner who understands the nuances of the wide receiver position and also competes well in contested-catch situations. Simply put, he is a dangerous weapon who would add some much-needed fire-power to the Pats’ offensive attack.

2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 16th overall

USC. 32. Scouting Report. Alijah Vera-Tucker. 16. player. Pick Analysis. OL

The Arizona Cardinals have a massive need at the cornerback position and they could easily be the team that takes the risk on the gifted Caleb Farley. However, Farley’s back injury makes his value incredibly difficult to judge. Instead of swinging for the fences on an injury risk, the Cardinals play it safer here and address their offensive line.

Alijah Vera-Tucker is the best interior offensive lineman in this draft class. He is an extremely athletic player up front who shines in space and holds his own well in pass protection. He is an incredibly reliable player who could come in and make an immediate impact for the Cardinals up front. Protecting Kyler Murray has to be a priority for the Cardinals and Vera-Tucker undoubtedly helps them in that department.
