The Green Bay Packers are coming off two straight disappointing finishes to their 2019 and 2020 seasons. They fell just short of the ultimate goal two seasons in a row, their first two under head coach Matt LaFleur.

The criticisms were evident after their 2020 season ended, especially due to their handling of the 2020 NFL Draft. After trading up to select Aaron Rodgers’ (likely) eventual successor in Jordan Love, the Packers splurged on helping out the run game, selecting A.J. Dillon and Josiah Deguara on day two. Missing out on positions like wide receiver baffled and angered Packers fans, and the Packers now sit in the same position as they did a year ago.

There is one exception. The doubters about Rodgers’ decline should disappear now after an MVP campaign that saw him throw for 48 touchdowns to just five interceptions. All that occurred with a similar room of weapons that he had in 2019.

Another difference is that the holes are a bit more prevalent for the Green Bay Packers.

While others look closed (tight end, running back, and edge rusher), others are opening up. Green Bay has said goodbye to two excellent offensive linemen during the last two free agency periods. In 2020 it was Bryan Bulaga, and this year it was long-time center Corey Linsley.

The offensive line isn’t the only spot. Many believe the linebacker room is average at best and in need of a playmaker. The run defense needs beefing up as well. Not to mention, fans and analysts have their reservations about Kevin King returning. And of course, there’s the pesky wide receiver position.

Let’s look at the Green Bay Packers’ top needs entering the 2021 NFL Draft.
