Last season, the Chicago Bears dealt with a ton of issues on the offensive line. It got so bad that the team was forced to start several undrafted free agents throughout the year. Because of this, many expected Chicago to make bolstering the offensive line a priority in free agency, but they missed out on all of the big-name guys and their re-signing of Germain Ifedi ended up being their only real move.

As things stand now, Ifedi and Charles Leno Jr. are set to man the tackle spots with Cody Whitehair, James Daniels, and Sam Mustipher slated to fill the inside. That interior proved a lot last season but finding the future at tackle should be a big point of emphasis for Chicago as we near the 2021 NFL Draft.

One player that would make a lot of sense for the Bears is former Texas standout, Sam Cosmi. A three-year starter with the Longhorns, Cosmi finished his career with 34 starts under his belt, making him one of the more experienced tackle prospects in the class. A terrific athlete with easy movement skills on tape, Cosmi confirmed what the eye-test told the draft community after running an unreal 4.84 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. Pair that with his ideal length and ability to excel in both the pass and run game, Cosmi would be a great get if he is still on the board at 20.

It’s also worth mentioning, that the Chicago Bears hired his former head coach, Tom Herman, as an offensive analyst this offseason. Hard to ignore that possible connection.
