NFL mock draft 2021: Justin Fields, Trey Lance land in perfect situations
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 10th overall
Not an overly aggressive move by the Los Angeles Chargers here but this 2021 NFL mock draft presents a strong scenario for them to move up for a specific player. The Chargers see Rashawn Slater as a strong value in this range and a perfect fit for what they need. Giving up a third-round selection to secure his services feels like a no-brainer.
With so many offensive players flying off of the board, this board is setting up well for the defense-needy Dallas Cowboys, making this trade-down scenario a strong plan of attack for the team.
The Los Angeles Chargers have done a nice job of adding solid offensive line talent already this offseason. Corey Linsley will stabilize the Chargers’ offensive line from the center position while Matt Feiler provides quality depth at guard and right tackle. That being said, left tackle still stands out as a major need for this team and Rashawn Slater is one of the best in this class.
Slater is an extremely athletic offensive tackle prospect who moves well in space and shows tremendous footwork in pass protection. He is an aggressive offensive lineman who is always at his best when he is allowed to attack, both as a run blocker and pass protector.
Slater will have to get better in his deep pass sets in order to reach his full upside at the next level but he is undoubtedly an extremely talented player who would be a strong blindside protector for Justin Herbert for many years.
