2021 NFL mock draft: 3rd pick

TRADE: Miami Dolphins trade 3rd pick to Carolina Panthers

QB. BYU. 3. 87. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. Zach Wilson

Carolina Panthers key additions so far

  • LB Haason Reddick
  • LB Denzel Perryman
  • OG Pat Elflein
  • OT Cameron Erving

The Carolina Panthers have, unfortunately, had to watch a key weapon in their offensive arsenal walk away this offseason.

Wide receiver Curtis Samuel has moved on to the Washington Football Team, and Carolina’s offensive weaponry no longer looks as dynamic as it once did.

With that being said, this team should be expected to be aggressive in pursuit of a quarterback in the next month-plus, perhaps going after Deshaun Watson in a trade or moving up to get someone like Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, or Justin Fields.

In this 2021 NFL mock draft scenario, they are able to come away with Wilson, a guy who specializes in making jaw-dropping throws off-platform, changing arm angles, and doing it sometimes 70 yards down the field.

Wilson has arm talent, playmaking ability, and he’s drawn some QB1 hype for the things he put on tape in 2020. He was absolutely outstanding for BYU and anytime a guy puts stuff on tape that resembles Patrick Mahomes — even slightly — he’s going to be hyped.

The Panthers get their QB of the future and give up whatever it takes to do it. For this mock draft, the Dolphins will have Carolina’s second-round pick.
