Miami Dolphins: Five first-round targets in the 2021 NFL Draft

Kadarius Toney WR
2020 Starters: Devante Parker, Preston Williams, Albert Wilson
Although it would be thought that the Miami Dolphins most likely position to take a first-round wide receiver would be with their third overall selection via the Houston Texans, there is also the realistic possibility that their top selection would be spent elsewhere and the Dolphins would look to hit big on a late first-round selection to elevate their passing offense.
Currently inhabited by a variety of speedy undersized receivers, none of which hold the sort of prestige to force defenses into tough situations, the Miami Dolphins look to add their own modern weapon reminiscent of new-age weapons such as Tyreek Hill and Henry Ruggs. Showing off impeccable route running in conjunction with his speed and quickness, Florida’s Kadarius Toney has flown up draft boards into the talk of being selected before Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman.
Toney posted impressive stat lines over the course of the season, the most impressive of which being his eight reception outing against Alabama in the SEC Championship in which he 153 yards and a touchdown with19.1 yards per reception. This performance followed two previous high-volume receiving games against LSU and Tennesse in which Toney showed his ability to perform from game to game with his explosive playstyle.
With the ability to beat defenders downfield with raw speed and make his own yardage with the ball in his hands, Toney is second only to Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle in the 2021 NFL Draft for the title of best isolation playmaker within the draft class and would bring a new dynamic offensive element to a Miami Dolphins passing offense in dire need of such a weapon.
