2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 10th overall

One of the bigger debates in the 2021 NFL Draft is who is the better cornerback between Alabama’s Patrick Surtain and Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley. While I have Surtain as the number one cornerback on my board, Farley is not far behind. The one thing separating these two is that Surtain is more polished when it comes to technique. However, this is mainly due to Farley only having played two years at cornerback.

What Farley does bring to the table is a combination of great size, quickness, and ball skills. Coming in at 6-foot-2 he is one of the bigger corners in the 2021 NFL Draft and for someone his size, he shows impressive quickness. He shows an outstanding burst when it comes to making a play on the ball, and also has the overall speed to match up with even the fastest receivers. Farley shows impressive ball skills as well as he picked off four passes and broke up 12 passes in 2019.

Farley would be a great addition to the Dallas Cowboys secondary. He and 2020 second-round pick Trevon Diggs would make one of the better young cornerback tandems in the NFL. These two together would also turn the Cowboys secondary from a weakness to one of the strengths of the team.
