New England Patriots: Curtis Samuel and the Pats’ top free-agent targets
2. Curtis Samuel, WR
Curtis Samuel stands tall as one of the best free-agent targets for the New England Patriots this offseason. Samuel is a dynamic athlete who has exciting playmaking ability at the wide receiver position. He is extremely quick and shifty in space and has the speed needed to take it to the house from anywhere on the field.
Samuel is a tremendous playmaker from the slot and has even shown the ability to make plays from the backfield. I could certainly see Josh McDaniels using Samuel well, giving him opportunities in space all over the field. At only 25-years-old, Samuel has a lot of long-term value on the open market. For this reason, a team like the New England Patriots, who need offensive playmakers in the worst way, would be wise to invest heavily in Samuel this offseason.
1. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR
The Pittsburgh Steelers may let wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster walk in free agency this offseason. The Steelers have done a fantastic job of finding wide receiver talent in recent years and could afford to let Smith-Schuster walk instead of paying him big money.
The New England Patriots, on the other hand, have struggled mightily to find impact players at the wide receiver position. They have the cap space to work with this offseason and would be wise to invest some of that money into an established offensive playmaker like Smith-Schuster.
The Patriots love to get slot receivers involved and Smith-Schuster has made a living out of making plays in the slot. He is a talented and dependable player who would provide both immediate and long-term value for the team.
