This past weekend, our latest 2021 NFL mock draft at NFL Mocks dropped, featuring three full rounds of selections for the NFL teams. Holding the first overall pick and five total picks through the first three rounds, the Jacksonville Jaguars were heavily featured throughout this 2021 NFL mock draft. Here, we are going to dig a bit deeper into the Jaguars’ three-round haul.

It is a season of change for the Jacksonville Jaguars, led by the hiring of new head coach Urban Meyer. The Jaguars were able to coax Meyer out of retirement, and while the 56-year-old Meyer has undoubtedly proven himself at the college level, he has never coached in the NFL and it is fair to wonder how this transition will go. After years of dealing primarily with teenagers, Meyer will now be coaching NFL veterans who play the game for a living.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will certainly have an opportunity to improve their roster this offseason. According to Spotrac, the Jags have the most cap space in the entire NFL, with nearly $80 million under the cap to work with. On top of that, the Jaguars hold a pair of picks in each of the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. Make no mistake about it, the Jaguars are going to be able to re-shape this roster and give Meyer a talented group of players to build around.

Jacksonville Jaguars three-round 2021 NFL mock draft haul

Round 1, 1st overall: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
Round 1, 25th overall: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
Round 2, 33rd overall: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State
Round 2, 46th overall: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
Round 3, 65th overall: Nico Collins, WR, Michigan

Unsurprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off this mock draft with the selection of Trevor Lawrence at No. 1. Lawrence is the best quarterback prospect to enter the draft in years, showing an incredible combination of arm talent, playmaking ability and athleticism at the position. Make no mistake about it, Trevor Lawrence is the right guy to lead this franchise and could quickly turn this team into a contender.

In addition to No. 1 overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars also hold the 25th pick of the first round. This is a pick owed to them from the Los Angeles Rams in the Jalen Ramsey trade. In this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jaguars used the No. 25 overall pick to address their cornerback situation with the selection of Jaycee Horn.

Horn is a long and physical cornerback prospect who shines in press coverage at the line of scrimmage. He is an extremely disruptive coverage player who shows the ability to shine in both man and zone coverage. Pairing Horn with last year’s No. 9 overall pick C.J. Henderson would give the Jags an exciting cornerback duo who they could build their defense around for many years.

Jacksonville Jaguars’ Day 2 picks

The Jaguars kicked off Day 2 of this 2021 NFL mock draft with the selection of North Dakota State offensive tackle Dillon Radunz. It is difficult to determine how big of a need the offensive line with be for this team until after free agency. Jags’ left tackle Cam Robinson will hit free agency this offseason and while they undoubtedly have the money to bring him back, will they be willing to give him a massive left tackle contract?

Robinson has been a solid player for Jacksonville, but he is not a perfect player at the left tackle position. If the price gets out of hand, I would not blame the Jacksonville Jaguars for bowing out and looking to address the left tackle situation in another way.

More from NFL Mocks

In this 2021 NFL mock draft, Radunz is brought in to be groomed as the starting left tackle for this team. Radunz is a tough and aggressive offensive tackle prospect who shows impressive natural power at the point of attack and strong athleticism for an offensive lineman. He moves extremely well in space and shows tremendous natural pass protection skills. Radunz undoubtedly has exciting upside at the next level and would be an ideal pick for the Jags at No. 33.

With their extra second-round selection, the Jaguars were able to get Lawrence an interesting offensive playmaker. Pat Friermuth is arguably the most well-rounded tight end prospect in this draft class, showing impact ability as a receiver and strong run blocking skills.

Freiermuth separates from the defense with strong route-running ability and is also a gifted player in contested-catch situations. He is far too big for most defensive backs to defend and is a difficult cover for many linebackers. The Jaguars have a major need at the tight end position and having a good playmaking tight end always helps a young quarterback.

With their final pick of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Nico Collins, a big and athletic wide receiver prospect out of Michigan. Collins was never the most productive receiver in college, but it is not difficult to watch him and see how much upside he has at the next level.

Collins is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound receiver who displays an extremely wide catch radius. He is also an explosive wide receiver prospect who can stretch the field with his speed vertically and shows impressive natural ball skills. Collins is a big target who wins often in contested-catch situations and is also a dynamic deep ball target. He is certainly a bit of a raw player, but with proper development, Collins could quickly grow into a major playmaker with the Jags.

Obviously, nothing is more important for Jacksonville this offseason than getting Trevor Lawrence into the building and developing him properly. That being said, this team has a ton of resources to work with this offseason and a great opportunity to find multiple players who can help them moving forward.
