Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL Draft needs: Wide receiver

’20 Starter: Devante Parker

The single most outstanding need of the current Miami Dolphins roster, above all else, is a dominant aerial-threat who can elevate the production of Tua Tagovailoa with one-on-one superiority and the ability to manufacture yardage individually after the catch.

Tagovailoa was arguably elevated during his collegiate career by high-profile prospects such as Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle during his time with the Crimson Tide, and element blatantly missing from the Miami depth chart.

Within the 2021 NFL draft, the top two names among draft boards have been the previously mentioned route-running maestro Smith, as well as Joe Burrow’s favorite target on LSU’s run to the national championship Ja’Marr Chase. Each provides their own unique skill set that would change the dynamic of the Miami Dolphins passing attack, providing a week-in-week-out threat for opposing secondaries.

Even outside of the top-fifteen, the 2021 NFL draft contains yet another deep wide receiver class that can arguably compete with the stacked roster posted by last year’s draft class which boasted the likes of Ceedee Lamb and Justin Jefferson.

With numerous high-ranking selections in the 2021 NFL draft and an obvious need to elevate the talent surrounding their franchise quarterback, expect the Miami Dolphins to make a hefty investment in their pass-catchers.
