2021 NFL Draft prospect Tylan Wallace has been re-establishing his stock.

The 2021 NFL Draft, just like the 2020 NFL Draft, is going to be absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position. One player who hasn’t been getting the hype he deserves is Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace, who is coming back in 2020 from a 2019 injury.

Wallace had his breakout with the Cowboys back in the 2018 season when he caught 86 passes for 1,491 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had one carry for six yards and another touchdown.

He followed that up in 2019 with eight touchdowns and over 900 yards in nine games before he unfortunately went down with an injury. He appeared on his way to joining that vaunted 2020 class but it was not to be.

Coming back in 2020, Wallace’s return to the field has been somewhat understated. He has a very well-rounded game with explosive downfield abilities and some of the best contested catch ability in the country.

In eight games so far this season, Wallace has 46 receptions for 780 yards and five touchdowns.

Against Texas Tech on Saturday, Wallace had his third game with at least 125 receiving yards this season, catching seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.

Considering the talent and depth of this year’s class, it’s not altogether surprising that Wallace’s play has gone somewhat underrated. He hasn’t been lighting defenses up for over 100 yards every week, but he has proven that his explosiveness and strong hands are just what they were a season ago.

Wallace has been nothing if not consistent in his time at Oklahoma State. Over the last three seasons, he has averaged almost exactly 17 yards per reception every year.

Wallace will need to put in work to create separation more consistently than when he wins with just pure speed. There are opportunities to get him the ball in space on some manufactured touches, but he’s going to need to expand his all-around game in order to be a big-time threat in the NFL.

Still, the skills at the catch point and after the catch are there. Wallace could wind up being one of the top steals on day two or three of the 2021 NFL Draft.
