Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2021 post-Super Bowl mock draft
Buccaneers 2021 mock draft: Day three picks
4. Elerson Smith, EDGE, Northern Iowa
Listed at 6-foot-6, 262 pounds, Elerson Smith is a long, lanky pass rusher with some good quickness off the ball and much better bend than his frame would indicate.
He has a lot of room to grow and I think Todd Bowles’ defensive scheme could maximize his effectiveness rather quickly.
The Bucs need to continue adding to their defensive front depth and with players like William Gholston and Anthony Nelson (big, tall, long players) excelling in rotation on this defense, Smith could have a bright future with the Bucs.
5. Alaric Jackson, OL, Iowa
After selecting Tristan Wirfs atop their 2020 NFL Draft class, the Buccaneers go out and get his former Iowa bookend in this mock draft scenario.
Jackson was solid as the left tackle for the Hawkeyes and while his frame suggests he will project better as an NFL guard, he could give a team like Tampa Bay flexibility in the depth department with tackle/guard versatility.
6. Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State
We will have to wait and see what the Bucs do at the running back position this offseason with Leonard Fournette slated for free agency, Ronald Jones having one year left on his contract, and Ke’Shawn Vaughn obviously still in the mix.
Jermar Jefferson is a worthwhile shot at the dart board late in the draft because of his production over three seasons with Oregon State and ability to play within the type of offense that Bruce Arians runs. He had a nice bounce-back year in 2019 after a down 2018 campaign.
7. Warren Jackson, WR, Colorado State
Another worthwhile dart throw in the later portion of the draft, Warren Jackson could endear himself to a number of fan bases in the coming months.
At 6-foot-6, Jackson has tremendous size and 50-50 potential at the next level. Colorado State has become a bit of an annual wide receiver factory and Jackson is the latest who will draw the eyes of NFL teams.
8. Chauncey Golston, DL, Iowa
Getting yet another player from Kirk Ferentz’s program with the Hawkeyes, Golston is a versatile player for the defensive front who has been productive at Iowa. He racked up 27 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks over the past three seasons and could give the Bucs a versatile option on third downs.
