Buccaneers 2021 mock draft: 3rd pick

The Buccaneers might decide to prepare for life after Chris Godwin in the 2021 NFL Draft, whether they have to replace him ASAP or down the line.

Although they aren’t exactly the same player, Chris Godwin and Amari Rodgers share the similarity of being very strong in the lower half with rare running back-like body types at the wide receiver position.

Like Godwin, Rodgers excels after the catch and has the ability to come into an NFL program and create separation right away.

Looking at the Buccaneers’ depth chart at the wide receiver position, it’s hard to find immediate playing time for rookies coming in but Rodgers is a heck of a talent.

Rodgers had 85 catches with eight touchdowns from 2018-19 as somewhat of a role player in the Clemson offense, but he became a featured piece for Trevor Lawrence in the 2020 season and took advantage of that opportunity.

He ended up catching 77 passes for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior, and then he went on to put on a show at the Senior Bowl.

If the Bucs can have both Rodgers and Godwin for at least a year? That’s great. If they have them both long-term? Even better.

This receiver group is already stacked but the Bucs know they are going to have to light up the scoreboard again in 2021 to win the Super Bowl.
