Kansas City Chiefs: Top five NFL Draft picks playing in Super Bowl
By John Blair
The Kansas City Chiefs have been the most dominant team in the NFL over the past two seasons. One of the reasons they have had such success is the fact they have added most of their key players through the NFL Draft.
In this article, I take a look at the Kansas City Chiefs roster and name the five best NFL Draft additions of the players currently on the roster. This list looks at both the value of where they picked the player and the impact that player has made on the field.
5. Daniel Sorenson, UDFA, 2014 NFL Draft
Daniel Sorenson is far from an NFL star, and might even be someone the Chiefs look to replace in the starting lineup next year. However, any time you can get a key contributor as an undrafted free agent it is a major win for the team that picked him up. That is exactly what happened with Sorenson, who was picked up after the 2014 NFL Draft, yet led the Kansas City Chiefs in tackles this year with 91.
Coming out of college Sorenson was hurt by his lack of speed as he ran a 4.67 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. This was just one of the reasons scouts were concerned about his hold up in coverage especially if expected to play man-to-man coverage on a tight end. Unfortunately, this is still a concern for Sorenson but luckily, Kansas City does not ask much out of him in coverage.
