2021 NFL Draft: Deshaun Watson on the move in latest NFL mock draft
Man, has Aaron Rodgers looked like Aaron Rodgers this year. In his MVP-type season, Rodgers has looked like the class of the NFL once again. He can largely thank his offensive line for giving him time to throw and keeping him upright and healthy all season long.
If the Green Bay Packers want this trend to continue, however, they may want to continue to address some spots on that line. Here we start with right tackle, currently being manned by Billy Turner and Rick Wagner.
Jalen Mayfield is one of the more impressive tackle prospects that I have watched this 2021 NFL Draft season. Mayfield’s pass sets are probably the purest that I have seen. His footwork is phenomenal, his hand usage is impressive and he has done it against the best of the best in college football.
Mayfield could be a bit more dominant as a blocker, particularly in the run game, but he is technically sound and very effective on both fronts. After playing primarily right tackle at Michigan, I can see him playing really anywhere on the line at the next level.
I think his fit at right tackle would be perfect for the Green Bay Packers. With David Bakhtiari and Mayfield as the bookends, the Packers could have one of the best lines in football that will be able to keep Rodgers playing like Rodgers for another handful of years.
