Pick Analysis. Penn State. player. Micah Parsons. 12. 54. Scouting Report. Linebacker

What a dream scenario this would be for the Philadelphia Eagles. They trade down from pick-six, acquire an additional second-round pick and still get the player that they would likely target at six.

The lack of demand for an off-ball linebacker early in the draft may cause him to fall down draft boards a bit, but Micah Parsons is a top talent in the 2021 NFL Draft. His decision to not play this most recent college football season may also impact his draft stock, but the Eagles should be salivating over the idea of bringing in Parsons.

Parsons brings a ton to the table for an NFL defense. With a ton of experience as a pure edge rusher, Parsons can impact the game in a variety of ways. He is still able to rush off the edge, he is a terrifying blitzer, he is an instinctual tackler in the run game and has improved greatly in pass coverage.

Parsons just always seems to be making plays, often times in the backfield. He is a true football player who always knows where he needs to be on any given snap. While he is still learning to nuances of the off-ball linebacker spots, Parsons just has the instincts of a playmaker.

With speed, size, strength, athleticism and instincts, Parsons has everything you look for in a young and promising linebacker. Exactly what the Philadelphia Eagles need right now.

With the recent hire of Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as the new head coach, people may think the Eagles would go offense in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. And although we don’t yet know who the defensive coordinator will be, there are very significant needs on that side of the ball.

Sure, they could draft a wide receiver at six like Chase or Waddle, but I think a player like Parsons, Surtain II or Farley would be even more important to the success of the team. The team drafted a receiver in the first round a year ago in Jalen Reagor, so I think it’s time to look for a dynamic playmaker on the other side of the ball. Parsons is that guy.
