Pick Analysis. player. Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. 10. 123. Scouting Report. Cornerback

Caleb Farley, like Patrick Surtain II, will likely be a true game-changer for a defense at the next level. While they have a rather different skillset, the top two 2021 NFL Draft corner prospects should both be top 10 picks on draft day.

While Surtain II is more of a lockdown man-to-man corner, Farley excels when playing on off-man or zone coverage, allowing him to make breaks on the ball. Farley really has free safety-like instincts and always seems to find his way to the ball.

When Farley gets to the ball, he looks like a receiver going up to get it. He often manages to come down with the football and at least gets there to break it up. While he isn’t overly physical in man coverage, he is long and athletic and always seems to be in a position to meet the receiver at the catch point.

Farley versus Surtain II will be a hotly-debated battle for CB1 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Both are incredibly talented and either could wind up being the most successful player at their position. It all depends on their fit with their new defense.

I believe that Farley is a perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys new Dan Quinn-led defense. Alongside 2020 rookie Trevon Diggs, Farley would give Quinn another young, long, athletic corner with great instincts and ball skills. Quinn and the Cowboys could be the perfect spot for Farley to grow and develop into one of the most productive cornerbacks in the NFL.
