2021 NFL Draft: 49ers make aggressive move for QB in 3-round mock draft
2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 32nd overall
With both Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson hitting the open market this offseason, wide receiver could quickly become a massive position of need for the Kansas City Chiefs. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce obviously give Patrick Mahomes a pair of dynamic players in the passing game but the Chiefs like to spread the ball around the field. They need to keep the passing game a strength as much as possible and continuing the invest in pass catchers is a great way to accomplish that goal.
With the final first-round pick of this mock draft, the Chiefs address that wide receiver need with the selection of Ohio State’s Chris Olave. Olave has the size needed to complete on the outside which is important for Kansas City based on their potential losses at the wide receiver position this offseason. He is also a great fit for the team because of his ability to stretch the defense and make plays down the field.
Olave is a smooth wide receiver prospect who separates from man coverage quickly on the outside. He accelerates quickly, has impressive deep speed and tracks the ball in the air at an extremely high level. He is not the most impressive contested-catch receiver but Olave is a great route runner who commonly creates space from the defense anyway.
Simply put, Olave is an extremely gifted wide receiver prospect who has major upside at the next level. He is a perfect fit for the Kansas City Chiefs and would be a fantastic pick for the team if they find themselves in a position to land him.
